Abacus | Belfast Business Headshots

Sometimes I shoot for clients like artists or writers; a shoot can also be great for small business owners. But I work with larger business clients as well, who I think often value high quality headshots because they can help to convey a sense of the people behind the brand.

One large client I’ve worked with over the last couple of years is the Belfast recruitment firm Abacus Careers. In our early shoots, members of the team called up to my studio, which is fairly close to their main office. I used my studio windows as my key light, as I tend to do, with a reflector to fill shadows …

… On later shoots though, it became less convenient for folks to call up to the studio. So instead I made use of a space at Abacus Careers’ main office. Having found a well positioned window and a suitable background, a simple reflector set-up was ideal again to get a good exposure across the face, whilst allowing in just enough shadow to help emphasise natural contours and shape …
